How to get there? - Petrified Forest Egypt

The protected area is located in a very accessible location in the Fifth Settlement in Cairo. You locate the park in Google Maps by searching “The Petrified Forest Protected Area Egypt”. The main gate is just by the German University in Cairo. If you are coming by local transportation, you best look for any transportation to the German University in Cairo, you can get off at Gate # 00 of the German University in Cairo, and then you will need to walk 2 minutes to reach our main gate.

Opening Hours

The Petrified Forest Protected is open between 9am until sunset. All visitors should leave the protected area before sunset. We are open 365 days per year; business days, weekends and on public holidays. The protected area may be closed in periods, such closure will be announced in our website and Facebook page.

Park Entry Fees

The Park has no entry fees.

Camping Fees

Overnight camping fees are EGP 50 per person per night (for Egyptians) and EGP 200 per person per night (for Foreigners).

Commercial Photography and Filming

Prior permits are required for commercial photography and filming inside the park. More information can be found at this link;
